Supergirl Actor Tyler Hoechlin Reacts To Rumors He Will Replace Henry Cavill As DCEU Superman

Right now, fans are still wondering whether Henry Cavill will be back as the Man of Steel in the DC Extended Universe films. But is it possible that there's another Superman out there who is ready to replace the Mission: Impossible - Fallout star in case he walks away from the role? Supergirl actor Tyler Hoechlin has just spoken up about the rumors that he will be Cavill's replacement in the future DCEU flicks.

Hoechlin recently attended Fan Expo Boston where he was told that he is one of the top choices to take over Superman's role in the DCEU movies after Cavill's departure (via Comicbook.com). Interestingly, the former Teen Wolf star hasn't even heard of the rumors before it was brought up.

"I did not know that," Hoechlin said. "That's very flattering, very flattering. I appreciate the support."

There's a good reason why Hoechlin is so flattered by the fancasting. After all, he didn't exactly get a positive reaction when he was initially cast as the Man of Steel in the CW series.

"First time, ‘Who? Who's this guy? What, why? No, no, please God, no.' No, the support has been great," Hoechlin said. "It's been very nice to receive the, I guess, the reception that the character's had."

But would he be interested in crossing over to DCEU as Superman? Hoechlin clearly doesn't want to hope too much but he certainly likes the idea. "Who knows? You never know. You never know what's gonna happen in this crazy world," he said.

We certainly like Hoechlin's take on Kal-El but it's still unclear if Cavill is ready to give up on the role soon. Perhaps we'll get an update on that sometime in the future.

Hoechlin returns as the Man of Steel in Supergirl Season 5, which premieres on The CW on October 6.
