Super Bowl Fans React To Spongebob Squarepants Sweet Victory Snub

There is little doubt that one of the most anticipated moments in Super Bowl LIII would be the return of Spongebob Squarepants and the performance of the perfect game song Sweet Victory. However, it looks like Pepsi may have limited the tribute to the late Stephen Hillenburg to only a few seconds.

Here's how it went down. Maroon 5's halftime show performance was expected to feature a brief clip of the Spongebob Squarepants episode Band Geeks where Spongebob gathers the residents of Bikini Bottom to perform Sweet Victory for Squidward. Unfortunately, it didn't quite work out to most people's expectations. A clip from the performance shows what exactly happened.

Although it certainly hyped up Travis Scott's introduction as he performed with Maroon 5, fans weren't happy with the brief footage being used to introduce the rapper instead of showing a performance of Sweet Victory.

Spongebob's appearance at Super Bowl 2019 has been a dream for most people. Some even started a petition to bring the Bikini Bottom residents to the game since Sweet Victory would be a perfect way to pay tribute to the late Hillenburg. Unfortunately, it looks like Pepsi had a limited air time for the cartoon. Nevertheless, some were just happy to see Spongebob actually show up at Super Bowl this year.

Although the Spongebob clip was short, there's still a lot to look forward to in the game. The new trailers for Avengers: Endgame, Captain Marvel, and The Twilight Zone have just been dropped and there could be more in the next hour.
