Suicide Squad 2: Idris Elba Reportedly Playing Bronze Tiger

There's a lot of excitement surrounding Suicide Squad 2. After all, the upcoming James Gunn film is expected to take a different direction from the first movie and will introduce Idris Elba as a completely new character. So who exactly is the Thor: Ragnarok star playing in the DC Extended Universe flick? A new report suggests that Elba could be taking on the role of Bronze Tiger.

Elba was initially believed to take over the role of Deadshot after Will Smith confirmed that he will not be returning in The Suicide Squad. However, it has been revealed that the Hobbs and Shaw actor will be playing a different character so Smith could still have the option to reprise the role of Floyd Lawton in future movies. Interestingly, Forbes suggests that Elba could portray DCEU's take on Ben Turner.

In the comic books, Bronze Tiger is both a supervillain and an antihero who happens to be a master martial artist recruited by Amanda Waller for the Suicide Squad. The character has already been introduced in the second season of The CW's Arrow and was played by Michael Jai White. Ben Turner is currently expected to return in the show's final season but it wouldn't be a surprise if Bronze Tiger finally makes his big screen debut.

The idea of Elba playing Bronze Tiger in Suicide Squad 2 is certainly a welcome one but the Avengers: Infinity War star's role has not yet been confirmed. For now, it is best to take this with a grain of salt.

The Suicide Squad is currently scheduled for release on August 6, 2021.
