Stranger Things Has Just Confirmed Will Byers' Sexual Orientation

It seems like the one thing that fans have been concerned about since the first season of Stranger Things has been Will Byers. Although it all started with Will's whereabouts in Season 1, more people are now speculating about Will possibly being gay. Interestingly, the Stranger Things bible may have confirmed the young boy's sexual orientation.

First of all, I didn't know there was a Stranger Things bible. However, Screenrant confirms that it does exist and it was actually shopped around by the Duffer Brothers when they were still trying to get the series made. In the bible, the show was initially titled Montauk and it was supposed to take place in Long Island, New York. Although a lot has changed since then, it looks like the Duffers didn't alter much about Will when the series finally began production.

The description for Will reads as follows:

"WILL BYERS, twelve, is a sweet, sensitive kid with sexual identity issues. He only recently came to the realization that he does not fit into 1980s definition of 'normal.' His innocent choices, such as his colorful clothes, prove a constant source of bullying. Like Mike, Will escapes through fantasy gaming, where he can be himself, uninhibited. He has a close relationship with his mother, Joyce. His brother, Jonathan, helps raise him in lieu of their father, who abandoned them four years ago."

That certainly sounds like the Will that we have already met in the first season of Stranger Things (except the "colorful clothes"). Although the description pretty much confirms that the boy is struggling with his sexual identity, Mike Wheeler may have hinted at the truth in Stranger Things Season 3.

In the third season, Will and Mike got into an argument after the former kept trying to get his friends to continue playing Dungeons & Dragons with him while the latter was dealing with his relationship with Eleven. Will persisted that his friends have changed and Mike fires back, "It's not my fault you don't like girls." Sure, it was an angry statement made at the heat of the moment but it's not quite the confirmation people are looking for just yet.

Could Will finally come out in the fourth season? Or does it really matter if he doesn't like girls? (It doesn't, IMO, just let the kid play D&D). Perhaps we'll find out when Stranger Things Season 4 premieres on Netflix soon.
