Stranger Things 3: Maya Hawke, Duffer Brothers Discuss Robin's Breakfast Club Moment

We're all about the bromance between Steve Harrington and Dustin Henderson but Stranger Things Season 3 also gave Steve a new friend in his Scoops Ahoy co-worker Robin. Interestingly, the friendship between the two probably would never happen if Robin didn't have her own Breakfast Club moment in the Netflix series. Not surprisingly, Maya Hawke and the Duffer brothers believe that this was one of the best scenes in the new chapter.

Matt and Ross Duffer recently spoke to Entertainment Weekly about Stranger Things 3 where they confirmed that the scene between Steve and Robin where the latter reveals she is a lesbian was somehow a tribute to The Breakfast Club.

"It's sort of that John Hughes thing of putting two teen characters together in close quarters," Matt said. "They're forced to work together, and they start to learn more and more and more about each other and realize there's more depth to each other than they realized."

Hawke says the scene was an important part of Robin's character development in the third season.

"She gets less sarcastic and more vulnerable and more herself, until finally, in the end, she has no choice but to be her complete self. I think that to have that scene [set] in the '80s, and to have that scene on TV in general, I feel really honored to have got to be a part it, and I'm really grateful that the Duffer Brothers wrote it," she said.

The scene certainly confirmed that Steve has found his new BFF. Needless to say, we're looking forward to seeing more of Steve and Robin in Stranger Things Season 4.

Stranger Things 3 is still streaming on Netflix.
