Stephen King's The Shining Gets New HBO Max Series From J.J. Abrams

It looks like the Overlook Hotel will be back to terrorize more people. J.J. Abrams' production outfit Bad Robot has just been ordered by HBO Max to work on a spin-off series based on Stephen King's The Shining.

According to Collider, Warner Bros. Television Group and Bad Robot will collaborate on a new series titled Overlook, which will focus on the infamous haunted hotel. The show will explore the stories of people who have been terrorized by the haunted location and might even bring back characters we have already met in The Shining as well as Doctor Sleep.

The Overlook Hotel has appeared in Stanley Kubrick's adaptation of King's novel. It also showed up recently in Doctor Sleep, the film based on King's sequel to his original book. Needless to say, Overlook is one series that horror fans wouldn't want to miss.

Overlook isn't the only major project that Abrams' production company will be working on for HBO Max. It was previously reported that Bad Robot is also producing a Justice League Dark series that will feature DC comic book characters. For now, it has not yet been revealed which character will appear in the show. Nevertheless, this is yet another project to look forward to on the streaming service.

Both Overlook and Justice League Dark are still in the early stages of development and have not yet been given official release dates. Stay tuned for more updates on these stories.
