Star Wars Theory Suggests Palpatine Created Anakin Skywalker To Achieve Immortality

Anyone who has seen the Star Wars prequel trilogy is already aware that Anakin Skywalker didn't have a real father and was miraculously conceived. But is it possible that Emperor Sheev Palpatine had actually created Anakin so the Sith Lord could achieve immortality?

In Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, Shmi Skywalker had an astounding revelation as she told Qui-Gon Jinn that "there was no father" and that she "can't explain what happened." However, the comic book Darth Vader #25 may have provided an explanation.

In his vision, Vader sees his pregnant mother and somehow discovers that Palpatine had used Sith sorcery to imbue her womb with dark energy. Sure, there was no father but Palpatine's action may have ensured that the baby would be truly strong in the Force. But why would he do that in the first place?

The theory suggests that Palpatine chose Shmi's Force baby so he could later possess the child and achieve immortality. As ScreenRant points out, it may have to do with the Sith method known as Essence Transfer. Although a dying Sith can possess a person or an object (in the same way Lord Mommin transferred his soul to his helmet), Palpatine may have wanted to transfer his essence into another powerful Force user.

Of course, this doesn't work out for Palpatine since Darth Vader was killed in Return of the Jedi. On the other hand, the Emperor may have transferred his essence into something else and still has every intention to possess someone from the Skywalker bloodline.

Perhaps this is something that will be seen in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. In the meantime, it is best to take this with a grain of salt.
