Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Teases Undeniable Rey/Palpatine Connection

It seems like we're getting a new TV spot from Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker on a daily basis. However, the most recent teaser has something truly huge to offer. The brief TV spot seems to focus on Rey's possible connection to Emperor Palpatine.

The teaser already shows some footage that have been featured in the previous TV spots but it also features Rey standing in front of a burning Tie Fighter. It's unclear if this is the same one that Kylo Ren was piloting. However, if it does belong to Kylo then it could mean that this scene takes place in the latter part of the film.

That's not the only shocking thing you'll find in the TV spot. At one point, Palpatine says something strange and dark about Rey. "It is time that she learns her story," he declares.

It's a truly strange comment since it appears to be directed to Rey. Could this mean that Palpatine knows more about Rey than she actually believes to know about herself? Has the villain been aware of her existence and is somehow connected to her in the first place? We'll find out soon enough.

The synosis for The Rise of Skywalker reads as follows:

"A year after the events of The Last Jedi, the remnants of the Resistance face the First Order once again—while reckoning with the past and their own inner turmoil. Meanwhile, the ancient conflict between the Jedi and the Sith reaches its climax, bringing the Skywalker saga to a definitive end."

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hits theaters on December 20.
