Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Confirms BB-8 is No Longer Poe Dameron's X-Wing Co-Pilot

We already know that Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will be the last film in the Skywalker Saga. But what are the chances that R2-D2 will finally get into the action again? It looks like the teasers have already confirmed that Artoo will be replacing BB-8 as Poe Dameron's X-Wing co-pilot.

The evidence was spotted by an eagle-eyed Star Wars fan who immediately shared the screencap on Twitter. Check it out below.

It's an awesome confirmation that R2-D2 is still the droid to turn to when you need someone to help you out in your X-Wing. Additionally, it's great to know that Artoo will be doing a lot more than just sulking around hiding maps and stuff. (In case you where the screencap is from, it's in the 0:29 mark below).

But what could this mean for BB-8? Will the adorable new droid just step aside freely and allow R2-D2 to take over? We're hoping that this is the case since we don't want anything to happen to BB-8. Perhaps he'll be helping Finn out instead, as long as the droid also gets some piece of the action.

R2-D2 has been used sparingly in two of the Star Wars trilogy films so we're loving how it looks like the droid will play an important role just like C-3PO. Needless to say, we can't wait to see both of them in action this December.

The synopsis for The Rise of Skywalker reads as follows:

"A year after the events of The Last Jedi, the remnants of the Resistance face the First Order once again—while reckoning with the past and their own inner turmoil. Meanwhile, the ancient conflict between the Jedi and the Sith reaches its climax, bringing the Skywalker saga to a definitive end."

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hits theaters on December 20.
