Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Concept Art Features Dark Rey Almost Killing Kylo Ren

It looks like there were bigger, darker plans for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. The recently revealed concept art for Episode IX has confirmed that Dark Rey was supposed to play a larger role in the film. Interestingly, she was supposed to have an epic confrontation with Kylo Ren that almost leads to the latter's death.

The concept art was featured in the book The Art of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker along with several amazing images. Check it out below.

In the first image, Dark Rey is first seen approaching Kylo. Another one shows her putting her lightsaber to his neck while the third image features Rey Force-choking the new Supreme Leader.

We're not sure if this is a mere vision for either character or if it actually happens in The Rise of Skywalker. Nevertheless, it's a stunning idea considering that we only saw a glimpse of Dark Rey in the movie. Is it possible that the dark side of Rey was supposed to play a larger role in Episode IX or does she turn completely? Perhaps the truth will be revealed when the director's cut of the movie is eventually released.

The Rise of Skywalker concluded with Rey fighting against her own dark side and embracing the ways of the Jedi. It also ended with the unfortunate death of Ben Solo although it wasn't at Rey's hand.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is still screening in theaters worldwide.
