Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker 3D Poster Pays Tribute to A New Hope

We already know that Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is the final film in the Skywalker Saga. So it's no surprise that the new 3D poster for the highly anticipated sequel appears to pay tribute to A New Hope, which is the film that got Star Wars started in the first place.

The new poster was shared by the official Star Wars Instagram account. Check it out below.

It's an awesome poster that looks a lot like the one originally created by Tim Jung for A New Hope back in 1977. It also has a certain similarity to the UK poster illustrated by Greg and Tim Hildebrandt for Episode IV.

We're loving the idea that The Rise of Skywalker is making sure to pay tribute to A New Hope. After all, if it wasn't for Episode IV, the world would have never been obsessed with Star Wars. It's a fitting homage and one that already has us excited for Episode IX.

The premise of The Rise of Skywalker reads as follows:

"A year after the events of The Last Jedi, the remnants of the Resistance face the First Order once again—while reckoning with the past and their own inner turmoil. Meanwhile, the ancient conflict between the Jedi and the Sith reaches its climax, bringing the Skywalker saga to a definitive end."

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is directed by J.J. Abrams and will bring back Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, and Mark Hamill. The film will premiere on December 20.
