We already know that Emperor Sheev Palpatine is set for a major comeback in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. In addition to that, the Knights of Ren will finally be getting more screentime in Episode IX. But what are the chances that the two will be working together? A new theory suggests that Palpatine may have convinced the Knights to abandon Kylo Ren and begin working for him.
The first trailer for The Rise of Skywalker had already confirmed that Kylo Ren will be fighting the Knights of Ren. One of the only scenes showing Kylo actually shows the new Supreme Leader without his mask and bodyslamming a Knight in what appears to be a climactic battle. Could it have something to do with the Knights turning their back on Kylo and teaming up with the Emperor?
A theory suggests that both Palpatine and the Knights of Ren are currently out there in almost the same location. As Screenrant points out, the Knights have been rumored to be stationed out at The Beyond, which is somehow part of the Unknown Regions. Interestingly, a previous leak already hinted at the Emperor coming from the same location and with a mysterious fleet to boot. With that in mind, it's possible that the villain has come across the Knights and might be their new employer.
It's certainly a wild idea but also one that is somehow plausible considering that Palpatine likes to surround himself with powerful allies. It's possible that the Emperor is using his connection to the Dark Side of the Force to convince the Knights of Ren to work for him. However, it's important to point out that this is just based on theory and needs to be taken with a grain of salt.
Will the Knights of Ren work with the Emperor? Find out when Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hits theaters on December 20.
