It's been almost two years and people may have finally accepted that Luke Skywalker died in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. However, it looks like the international title for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker might be hinting at the return of the Jedi Master.
A Twitter user @ecco500 recently found out what The Rise of Skywalker title will be in their native language. Amazingly, the Polish title of Episode IX somehow mentions the word "resurrected," which could give the film a whole new meaning.
The title Star Wars: Skywalker Resurrected certainly seems to have a different meaning to The Rise of Skywalker, doesn't it? People have already been hoping that Luke Skywalker is set for a major comeback despite his shocking death in The Last Jedi. After all, George Lucas had originally planned for Luke to face Emperor Sheev Palpatine in Episode IX. Is it possible that the current trilogy will honor Lucas' plans?
Of course, it might just be due to some difficulty in translating the original title. Another Twitter user @nickandpolly pointed out that the only thing that the Polish title is trying to be ambiguous about is gender.
"No hidden meaning, I think. They try to avoid mentioning female or male form of Skywalker (the same issue in Russian) and they're lost in finding the single correct meaning of "rise" - so they basically guess," they wrote.
It might be too much to hope for Luke to be resurrected this December. Nevertheless, we can expect Mark Hamill to reprise his role in The Rise of Skywalker.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is scheduled for release on December 20.
