Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker Could Reveal Palpatine's True Plans For Rey

There is little doubt that Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will have to answer all of the questions about Rey. For instance, is there another reason why she was left in Jakku in the first place? Could there be something truly special about the young girl? One theory suggests that Rey might be closely connected to Emperor Sheev Palpatine.

A report points out that Palpatine had connections to Jakku in the Aftermath novels by Chuck Wendig. In the Star Wars books, the Emperor believed that the planet once had an ancient Sith shrine and proceeded to have an observatory built in Jakku.

Although the Contingency plan was to destroy the planet, this failed when Imperial Admiral Rae Sloane killed Palpatine's former advisor Gallius Rax. But is it possible that the Empire's presence in Jakku resulted in the birth of a truly powerful Force user?

The theory suggests that Rey's birth might not be a natural one but similar to how Anakin Skywalker was conceived through the influence of the Force. However, considering the presence of the Sith artifacts on Jakku, the child was expected to fight for the Dark Side.

This could explain why Rey was initially drawn to the Dark Side in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. On the other hand, it might also mean that she is more likely to be an important tool for Palpatine's plans.

Was Rey abandoned by her parents because of her Force connection? Does Palpatine have plans for the girl from Jakku? The truth could be revealed when Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hits theaters on December 20.
