Star Wars: The Clone Wars Final Season Gets 2020 Premiere Date

The wait for Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 7 is almost over. Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy has just confirmed that the final season will air on Disney+ early next year.

The announcement was made at the D23 Expo 2019 along with several awesome Star Wars news including the reveal of the trailer for The Mandalorian. Unfortunately, it was also confirmed that the seventh season will be the last one for the beloved animated series.

Supervising director Dave Filoni revealed to Entertainment Weekly that there are no plans to work on Season 8 as the upcoming season will be the last one.

"It will conclude the story that [George Lucas] and I started together. There could be stories after that that take place with a lot of those characters. But especially for me directing Clone Wars, being that hands-on, I wrote and directed the final four episodes. It's the end of something I feel really good about," Filoni said.

We are a little disappointed that The Clone Wars will not continue after Season 7. On the other hand, it's still better than not having a final season that wraps everything up. After all, the series was cancelled after the fifth season and Season 6 barely gave fans enough closure. Luckily, we have something to look forward to next year.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 7 was not given an official release date. However, it is expected to air on Disney+ in February 2020.
