Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi Series Could Adapt Popular Marvel Comic Book

There is little doubt that the planned TV series focusing on Obi-Wan Kenobi is truly exciting news for Star Wars fans. After all, Ewan McGregor is already in talks to reprise his role as the Jedi Master. But what could be the premise of the Disney+ show? There are speculations that it could be an adaptation of a Marvel comic book that followed Obi-Wan's life after Revenge of the Sith.

Back in 2015, Marvel's Star Wars explored a previously-unseen part of Obi-Wan's life. In the comic books, Obi-Wan was living in Tatooine under the name Ben Kenobi and trying his best to stay under the radar. His story is told through a journal that was discovered by Luke Skywalker and it reveals that staying under the radar was not as easy as it seems.

Interestingly, the comics confirmed that there was a time when Obi-Wan actually tried to train the young Luke to become a Jedi. Unfortunately, he was repeatedly turned down by Owen Lars, who refused to let Obi-Wan meet the Jedi Master.

Although the idea of Obi-Wan living alone in a desert planet and resenting his own exile sounds a bit boring, there are a few times when he actually gets into some action. In Star Wars #7, Obi-Wan steps in when Jabba the Hutt's thugs try to collect a "water tax" from struggling families. Of course, he doesn't use his lightsaber to hide his identity so it would be interesting to see Obi-Wan in a fight where he isn't using the weapon he usually relies on.

The idea of Obi-Wan being depicted as The Man With No Name is certainly an intriguing one that we would welcome. However, it is important to point out that Disney and Lucasfilm have not yet confirmed the planned series so it is best to take this with a grain of salt.

Stay tuned for more updates on the planned Obi-Wan series.
