Star Wars: John Boyega Hilariously Recalls How He Became Finn

Not all of us will get to experience what it's like to become a part of the Star Wars franchise. Luckily, John Boyega has illustrated how he ended up playing Finn in the new trilogy.

Boyega recently shared an awesome video showing what happened on the fateful day when he got a call from J.J. Abrams. The Episode IX star admitted that he wasn't expecting to be contacted by the director so he lied about being in Greenwich for an art exhibit.

Abrams reportedly asked to meet in a restaurant in Mayfair in London so Boyega had to take a taxi from Catford. The taxi ride itself cost a lot but it paid off in the end.

"Are you ready to be a leader?" Abrams asked Boyega. The young actor said that he's "good for this process." When the director went silent, Boyega immediately tried to find a way to convince Abrams to hire him. However, Abrams quickly told him, "No, no, John, you're the new star of Star Wars."

Boyega recalled the moment after that, stating that he felt time freeze. He admitted that he got calls from the producers the next day but he still couldn't believe he is officially a part of the Star Wars franchise.

It's an awesome story and we certainly commend Abrams for choosing the talented young actor for the job. There is little doubt that Boyega will continue to impress the world with his future work.

Boyega will reprise his role as Finn in the still-untitled Star Wars: Episode IX, which is scheduled for release on December 20, 2019.
