The premise of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is already pretty clear: a young Padawan named Cal Kestis tries to survive in the world after escaping Order 66. But what happens before everything went downhill for the Jedi Order? A new comic book series will serve as a prequel to the Respawn Entertainment game and could introduce new characters who will play a small part in Jedi: Fallen Order.
The new five-issue miniseries titled Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order – Dark Temple will be published by Marvel Comics (via StarWars.com). It will be written by Matthew Rosenberg, who has previously worked on The Punisher and The Uncanny X-Men. In addition to that, Vader: Dark Visions artist Paolo Villanelli will illustrate all five issues.
So will Fallen Order - Dark Temple actually focus on Cal Kestis? Interestingly, it seems to have nothing to do with the game's protagonist. The comic book will follow two Jedi who are sent by the Council to investigate a mysterious temple in a remote planet. However, what they end up finding on their mission could put the Jedi in major trouble.
The description for Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order - Dark Temple reads as follows:
"The tale follows Jedi Master Eno Cordova and his impulsive Padawan Cere Junda — on a seemingly simple mission that becomes much more dangerous. The Jedi Council sends the pair to the remote planet Ontotho to oversee the excavation of a mysterious temple; on Ontotho, dueling forces of local resistance and ruthless security troops clash in a war for the fate of the planet, with the Jedi caught in the middle."
Cere is already expected to play a role in the game so it would be interesting to see how everything connects back to Cal later this year.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order - Dark Temple will be available in September. The game will be released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on November 15.
