Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge Low Attendance Is Causing Disneyland To Cut Employees' Hours

The recently reported low attendance at Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge may have been welcome news for fans who don't want to wait in line for too long. However, things aren't quite as idyllic for Disneyland employees whose hours are being cut down per week.

The report comes from FOX Business reveals that Galaxy's Edge doesn't quite live up to the expected crowd levels this summer. Unfortunately, the theme park has decided to remedy the problem by cutting down on its employees' working hours. An anonymous source who works at the new Disneyland area revealed that they have had to work less during the season.

"Wait times this summer for the new Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run ride were expected to be over 2 hours long all summer, but in reality, the lines have been averaging half that or less," the employee said. "As a result, the company has been forced to cut our hours. The need for us to work simply isn't there."

But just how bad is the cut on their working hours? The employee stated that they are supposed to be working at least 40 hours per week. However, this has been cut down to only 30 to 35 hours weekly. Although it doesn't seem like much, the report points out that employees earn around $15 per hour. The reduced workweek could result in their paycheck falling from $600 to $450 before taxes.

Perhaps the real reason why attendance isn't as good is that most people are actually avoiding Galaxy's Edge because of fear that it would be overcrowded during summer. Interestingly, all the hype may have backfired on the park.
