Star Wars Finally Reveals Secret Behind Kylo Ren's Name

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker may have answered a lot of questions about the sequel trilogy but fans were still left wondering about one thing: How exactly did Ben Solo end up naming himself Kylo Ren? Luckily, a new comic book has revealed how Ben became Ren in the first place.

The Marvel comic books focusing on Kylo have confirmed a lot about the Knights of Ren, including the fact that they were originally led by someone named Ren. Ben would later take over and lead the group but before that, he and Snoke have an interesting discussion in The Rise of Kylo Ren #2 where the latter encourages Kylo to consider his true name (via Screenrant).

In the Charles Soule-penned comic book, Ben confesses to Snoke that he has always hated his name because he was named after legends like Obi-Wan Kenobi and his own father Han Solo. This is when Snoke encourages Ben to shed his name as he leads the Knights of Ren.

"What is the truth, my friend? What is your true name? The Knights will want you to take it if they let you join them. It is the way of the dark side. When we embrace it fully, we become our truest selves. I was not born Snoke. I became Snoke. Who will you become? Oh yes. I see it in your mind. That is good. Very good," Snoke says.

We never get to see into Ben's mind when he chooses the moniker "Kylo" but it is evident that he was only eager to get rid of the name "Ben Solo." The "Ren" part was, of course, taken from the original leader of the Knights of Ren. Nevertheless, it does reveal that Ben had a distaste for his own name.
