Star Wars: Episode IX Official Trailer, Title Finally Released

The first Star Wars: Episode IX trailer has finally been released at Star Wars Celebration. In addition to that, the official title of the highly anticipated film has also been revealed.

The trailer opens with Rey (Daisy Ridley) breathing deeply as she prepares for an encounter. But we also hear a voice addressing her about her future.

"We've passed on all we know," the voice tells her as she takes out her lightsaber. "A thousand generations live in you now."

The trailer quickly gets into the action as Rey goes up against a surprise enemy. However, there's more to see in the teaser. There's an awesome scene showing Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) in action and also fixing his broken helmet. We also get a shot of Finn (John Boyega) and Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) on what looks like the same planet that Rey is in in the first scene. BB-8's new friend Dio also makes an appearance.

The teaser concludes with a shock as we hear a familiar laugh. Does this mean that Palpatine is back? We certainly can't wait to see more this December.

The teaser was dropped by J.J. Abrams at the recent Episode IX panel at Star Wars Celebration. It's certainly great that we finally have official footage and know the title, which could confirm what we could look forward to at the end of the year.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is currently scheduled for release on December 20.
