Star Wars Episode IX Leak Teases Possible C-3PO Attack Of The Clones Tribute

There is little doubt that C-3PO has been through a lot since he was first created by Anakin Skywalker in the prequel trilogy. The poor droid has been dismembered in The Empire Strikes Back and even forced to join the battle in Attack of the Clones. But is it possible that Threepio will be back in action in Star Wars: Episode IX? A new leak suggests that he'll be taking hold of an old friend's weapon this year.

According to Making Star Wars, C-3PO will have an interesting new look in Episode IX, and no, we're not talking about his fancy new red arm. The report reveals that the protocol droid will be weighed down by three different new accessories that you would never expect for him to have.

"There's a scene in Star Wars: Episode IX where See-Threepio has Chewbacca's bandolier on with his bowcaster and he's holding Rey's staff. It sounds like one of Threepio's craziest situations since Attack of the Clones but we have no confirmation of Threepio-style dad jokes (this is such a drag)," the report reads.

In Attack of the Clones, C-3PO ends up in a droid-construction site in Geonosis where his head gets detached from his body. His own head gets attached to a battle droid and he ends up joining the battle against his own friends. Luckily, the Jedi Kit Fisto managed to stop Threepio from injuring anyone and he is restored by R2-D2.

Will C-3PO once again end up in a new fight in Episode IX? We'll have to wait until the film premieres later this year. In the meantime, it would be best to take the information with a grain of salt.

Star Wars: Episode IX will hit theaters on December 20.
