It's no secret that Billy Dee Williams will reprise his role as Lando Calrissian in Star Wars: Episode IX. But what exactly will Lando be doing in the upcoming Star Wars flick? A new leak suggests that the former owner of the Millennium Falcon will play a role similar to Maz Kanata in Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
The leak comes from Making Star Wars where it is immediately revealed that Lando "doesn't have a really large role in the story." The report suggests that Williams will only have a brief cameo "as a Maz Kanata type of character that points the way on the heroes' path to obtain the MacGuffin."
The new information is somehow in line with a previous report suggesting that Lando will finally get the Millennium Falcon back from Chewbacca. The ship could be given back to him as payment for some valuable information instead of the previously reported exchange where the meeting involves Lando agreeing to join the Resistance.
Interestingly, the leak also reveals that Williams will be wearing "a yellow shirt not unlike the one from Solo: A Star Wars Story that Donald Glover wore" as well as a blue cape.
Lando isn't the only classic Star Wars character who could be using some old props in Episode IX. The leak also teases C-3PO in yet another weird situation.
"There's a scene in Star Wars: Episode IX where See-Threepio has Chewbacca's bandolier on with his bowcaster and he's holding Rey's staff," the report reads. Could this mean the old droid is getting back into the action? We haven't seen this since Attack of the Clones so this could be interesting indeed.
The official title and trailer for Star Wars: Episode IX has not yet been announced although there are reports that both could be dropped before the end of the week. In the meantime, the film is still scheduled for release on December 20.
