Star Wars: Darth Vader #25 References Iconic The Phantom Menace Poster

The final issue of Star Wars: Darth Vader has revealed more of the Sith Lord's plans in his castle in Mustafar. However, the issue also featured an interesting reference to the iconic poster for Star Wars: The Phantom Menace that possibly revealed that his future was set even before he left Tatooine.

Spoilers Ahead! You Have Been Warned!

In Darth Vader: Dark Lord of the Sith 25: Fortress Vader, Part VII, the Sith Lord continued to work on the possible resurrection of Padme Amidala through the Dark Side of the Force. Interestingly, Vader's efforts took him back to his childhood where young Anakin Skywalker was literally confronted by the shadow of his future.

It's an awesome throwback to the promotional poster for The Phantom Menace that featured little Jake Lloyd as young Anakin with the shadow of Darth Vader. However, it also effectively confirms that Anakin already had visions of what was in store for him in the future. Little did he know that the mysterious masked figure that reached out to him is the same broken man he would be after his fight with Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith.

Although Star Wars: Darth Vader is coming to an end, it isn't the last comic book series that will focus on the Sith Lord. The new limited series Star Wars: Vader — Dark Visions is expected for release in 2019. It will be written by Dennis Hopeless (Cloak and Dagger, Jean Grey) and artist Paolo Villanelli (Star Wars: Lando Double or Nothing, Star Wars: Rogue One Adaptation) will illustrate the first issue.

Darth Vader: Dark Lord of the Sith 25: Fortress Vader, Part VII was released on December 19. Star Wars: Vader — Dark Visions will be available starting March 2019.
