Star Wars Actor Ian McDiarmid Hopes George Lucas Enjoyed The Rise of Skywalker

It's no secret that fans had mixed reactions to Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. But what does George Lucas think of the film? Actor Ian McDiarmid hopes that the Star Wars creator actually enjoyed watching Episode IX.

McDiarmid recently spoke to Red Carpet News TV where he admitted that he hasn't spoken to Lucas since the premiere of The Rise of Skywalker. Nevertheless, he is hoping that Lucas is pleased with what director J.J. Abrams has done for the final film of the Skywalker Saga.

"I'm sure he's happy that the story continues to go. He has, in a sense, relinquished it, but he hasn't relinquished it in his head," McDiarmid said.

But what are the chances that McDiarmid will be able to discuss the film with Lucas? It's still unclear but McDiarmid is already looking forward to the opportunity.

"I'm sure we'll have a chat about it one day, but I really hope he likes it, because I think it's absolutely true to what he started," he said.

McDiarmid previously played Palpatine in the Star Wars prequel trilogy and he reprised the role in The Rise of Skywalker. Since he is someone who has worked closely with Lucas, we're hoping that the two get the chance to talk about Episode IX soon.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is still screening in theaters worldwide.
