Star Trek: Picard's Jonathan Frakes Shares Updates on The Orville Season 3

He might be heavily involved with the Star Trek shows right now but Jonathan Frakes also has some inside information about the series that serves as a Star Trek parody. Frakes has just revealed some interesting details about The Orville Season 3.

The Star Trek: Picard actor recently spoke to Comicbook.com where he commented about his involvement in the upcoming third season of The Orville.

"I'm not involved with the third season," Frakes said before confirming that creator Seth McFarlane will direct most of the new episodes.

"They made a decision to have Seth and John Cassar, who's the producing director, direct all the episodes of the third season of that show, much to my chagrin, but that's the way it goes," he added.

Although it sounds like he won't be directing any episodes in The Orville Season 3, Frakes pointed out that he hasn't given up on the hope that he could actually join the cast for a change. He even revealed that he is already preparing for a possible guest appearance.

"I keep waiting for a phone call. I am available. I've got a beard," Frakes said. He then admitted that being on The Orville is some strange ambition for him.

"I would just like to be, just like I hoped and dreamed of being on [The Big Bang Theory], there's certain things, the absurdity factor, like the Pez dispensers and the garden gnomes, certain benchmarks we all want to reach," Frakes stated.

We'd love to see Frakes on The Orville Season 3 but that guest appearance would still be decided by McFarlane. Still, we're keeping our fingers crossed that the show will eventually feature a character who somehow looks a lot like Will Riker.

The Orville Season 3 has not yet been given an official release date. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
