Star Trek: Picard Episode 2 Featured Unexpected Discovery Easter Egg

There is little doubt that Star Trek: Picard exists in the same universe as Star Trek Discovery. However, with the latter first being a prequel and eventually taking place about hundreds of years in the future, it doesn't seem likely that we'll get to see a lot of connections between the shows. Nevertheless, the latest episode of Picard just featured an unexpected Discovery Easter Egg.

In Maps and Legends, Picard decided to visit former first officer Raffi Musiker, whose home is in a remote location. To get there, Picard had to take a taxi shuttle.

The shuttle didn't look like anything special but Trekkies were quick to notice that it looked familiar. This was confirmed by TrekCore on Twitter, which revealed that the shuttle is something you've already seen in the first two seasons of Discovery.

It's an awesome Easter Egg but it's not exactly a surprise that people have found a way to repurpose the shuttle. Although it may have once been used only by Starfleet, it does make sense that it would eventually be used by civilians.

Interestingly, the second episode of Picard also shed some light on why Starfleet decided to abandon the Romulans, which is still a prickly issue for Picard. In the episode, Starfleet commander in chief Admiral Kirsten Clancy confirmed that the Federation was still struggling and that saving the Romulans would be very risky. Unfortunately, Starfleet chose to save itself and left the people of Romulus to die.

The second episode of Star Trek: Picard is currently available on CBS All Access.
