Star Trek: Picard Actor Marina Sirtis Slams Lin-Manuel Miranda Over Controversial Tweet

It seems like every little move on social media can be criticized these days. Unfortunately for Marina Sirtis, her recent tweets have attracted some backlash. The Star Trek: Picard actress decided to go after Lin-Manuel Miranda on Twitter for seemingly refusing to speak up about racial injustice.

Celebrities have been vocal about their support for the Black Lives Matter movement on social media. On the other hand, Miranda posted an optimistic message on Twitter instead. "Gmorning. Keep going. Listen to the aches. Learn from your mistakes. Get right with your guts. Keep going," the His Dark Materials star wrote. Although this is perfectly in line with Miranda's usual positive posts, Sirtis decided to respond to the tweet with some force.

"Could you for once in your life, say something that actually matters at this time of crisis?" Sirtis replied. "Your platitudes are pointless."

Not surprisingly, both tweets grabbed the attention of netizens, and Sirtis was immediately bombarded with criticism as people defended Miranda. Interestingly, Miranda has since deleted his tweet but it is proof that celebrities need to be more careful about what they post during these times.

Sirtis recently reprised her role as Deanna Troi in the first season of Star Trek: Picard. Although it has not yet been confirmed whether Troi will be back in Season 2, fans are already expecting to see more of the Star Trek: The Next Generation character in the future.

Star Trek: Picard Season 2 has not yet been given an official release date. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
