Star Trek: Lower Decks Could Bring Back Wesley Crusher

There is little doubt that Wesley Crusher is one of the most well-known characters in the Star Trek Universe and Trekkies have been wondering if Wil Wheaton will reprise the role in an episode of Star Trek: Picard Season 2. But is it possible that Wesley could actually show up in a completely different CBS All Access series? There are speculations that Wesley's return would fit better if it happens on Star Trek: Lower Decks Season 2.

It's no secret that Wheaton has been uncertain about returning to the Star Trek Universe after some Wesley backlash in the past. Although the character was widely viewed as a Mary Sue, there is little doubt that playing Wesley also had a great influence on Wheaton. So it's no surprise that Wheaton admitted he would like to revisit Wesley if the character is brought back in Lower Decks.

"I would do the show in a heartbeat! I'm a massive fan. Who says 'no' to Star Trek? Who says, 'No thank you. I don't want to do Star Trek?' Who says that? A dumb person. Yeah, of course, I would do it in a heartbeat," Wheaton told TrekMovie. He then added the show would allow Wesley to truly express himself.

"Honestly, I feel like animation is probably where Wesley could actually exist in his most faithful canonical form right now... In my headcanon, Wesley Crusher is a Time Lord. In my headcanon, Wesley is off with The Traveler. He experienced some kind of multidimensional, higher-dimensional experience and it changed him and changed who he is and what he does. And he's a very different kind of character now than he was the last time we saw him," Wheaton said.

For now, there haven't been any updates from Lower Decks on possibly including Wesley in the second season. However, we wouldn't be surprised if there's a "special guest" next season. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
