Snowpiercer SDCC Trailer Pits Jennifer Connelly Against The Uprising

It has been a long wait but we finally have our first look at the Snowpiercer TV series that has just debuted at San Diego Comic-Con 2019.

The trailer opens with Melanie Cavill (Jennifer Connelly) addressing her fellow passengers aboard the perpetually moving train. Although her voice is soothing, there is nothing comforting about the updates Melanie delivers. "The temperature outside is minus 119 degrees Celsius," she says. "For your personal safety, be prepared to brace."

Snowpiercer might look like a dream come true on the inside but there are darker things happening inside the train. After all, the train is run based on three principles: work, honor, and order. Although it sounds like everything should be working perfectly, there are brief glimpses revealing why it doesn't.

The trailer introduces Layton Well (Daveed Diggs) who works on the tail end and poverty-stricken part of the train. Although he only wants to survive in the shadows, Layton will find himself in the middle of an uprising that could change everybody's life.

The series is based on the 1982 French graphic novel Le Transperceneige by Jacques Lob, Benjamin Legrand, and Jean-Marc Rochette. It serves as a reboot to the 2013 Bong Joon Ho film that starred Chris Evans, Tilda Swinton, and Ed Harris.

The description for the series reads as follows:

"Snowpiercer picks up seven years after the world becomes a frozen wasteland and follows the remnants of humanity who inhabit a gigantic, perpetually moving train that circles the globe. The show questions class warfare, social injustice, and the politics of survival."

Snowpiercer has not been given an official release date but is expected to air on TBS in Spring 2020.
