Russo Brothers Want To Work On Wolverine Movie For MCU

There is little doubt that everyone is already excited now that Disney has acquired 20th Century Fox since it could mean that the X-Men and Fantastic Four could finally join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Although no plans have been confirmed just yet, the Russo brothers admitted that they would like to work on a Wolverine movie.

Joe and Anthony Russo recently took part in an AMA on Reddit to answer several fan questions. Not surprisingly, one fan wanted to know which superhero film that hasn't been done in the MCU would they be interested in working on. Anthony's response certainly had people excited.

"We've always loved us some Wolverine," he wrote.

Of course, this doesn't mean that a Wolverine film is already in the works. After all, it may take some time before the Fox properties could be integrated into the MCU. Nevertheless, it's great to know that the Russos might be the first in line to helm a movie about Wolverine in the future.

But who could possibly take over as the mutant in the MCU now that Hugh Jackman has retired from the role? It was previously reported that Jackman's Eddie the Eagle co-star Taron Egerton is a fan favorite. Egerton also expressed interest in doing a Marvel film although he didn't necessarily say he would play Wolverine. For now, we'll have to wait for an official announcement.

The Russo brothers' Avengers: Endgame will be available in DVD and Blu-ray on August 13.
