One of the funniest things about the first Deadpool film was undoubtedly the unexpected cameos from comic book legends. While the late Stan Lee played an emcee at a strip club, Deadpool co-creator Rob Liefeld was one of the rowdy patrons at Weasel's bar. However, it looks like Liefeld's appearance was supposed to be a lot bloodier and would have been a tease at him losing his ability to draw.
Liefeld recently took part in Comicbook.com's Quarantine Watch Party for a viewing of Deadpool and the artist shared some interesting details about his cameo. For one, the scene originally called for Liefeld's hand to be stabbed.
"Funny thing is originally Buck was stabbing me in the hand, I agreed to it, I thought it would be a funny joke (to) get a knife through my hand, my drawing hand," he shared.
That would have been hilarious, but why change the scene? Liefeld stated that it was the prop knife's fault.
"They only had one prop knife and Buck was sweating so much, and the heat, the prop knife wasn't solid so it was bending every time they stabbed my hand," he confessed.
Well, that's one joke that didn't quite make it into Deadpool. Still, we're glad that Liefeld agreed to appear in the film although he generally refuses to do cameos in movies.
There have been speculations that a third Deadpool movie is currently in development. However, this has not yet been confirmed by Disney and Marvel Studios. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
