Family reunions are usually a joyous occasion. However, things aren't quite as sweet in the new image from Maleficent: Mistress of Evil as the fairy folk meet with the royals.
The new photo from Maleficent 2 was shared by USA Today and it perfectly captures the contrast between Aurora's old and new families. Check it out below.
On the left side, Maleficent (Angelina Jolie) stands coldly with her right-hand man/raven Diaval (Sam Riley) while Queen Ingrith (Michelle Pfeiffer) meets them with Aurora (Elle Fanning), Prince Phillip (Harris Dickinson), and King John (Robert Lindsay). While Aurora is smiling in the photo, it won't be long before things get out of hand in this scene.
The trailer already revealed that Aurora's engagement party isn't as peaceful as the young princess had hoped for. On the other hand, it also leads to Maleficent being reunited with her kin so it might not be so bad after all.
The synopsis for Mistress of Evil reads as follows:
"Maleficent: Mistress of Evil is a fantasy adventure that picks up several years after Maleficent, in which audiences learned of the events that hardened the heart of Disney's most notorious villain and drove her to curse a baby Princess Aurora. The film continues to explore the complex relationship between the horned fairy and the soon to be Queen as they form new alliances and face new adversaries in their struggle to protect the moors and the magical creatures that reside within."
Maleficent: Mistress of Evil will premiere on October 18.
