You might not be able to hang out with friends right now due to the Coronavirus outbreak (COVID-19) but Netflix can still let you feel like you're not alone. The streaming service now offers Netflix Party, which allows you to stream with others without having to worry about social distancing.
Netflix Party is an awesome extension that allows people to watch something together. The extension "synchronizes video playback and adds group chat to your favorite Netflix shows."
But how can you make it work? You can install Netflix Party through Google Chrome. Once installed, creating a viewing party is as easy as clicking on a button. The only thing you need to do is decide on a movie or TV show prior to starting a party. Once the film or series has been chosen, you can then share the URL to your friends so they can join your party.
It's important to point out that Netflix Party is only available for Chrome browsers. It is still unclear if the feature will eventually become available in other browsers.
The new feature is certainly a welcome one right now considering that everyone is concerned about social distancing due to COVID-19. Luckily, you won't have to miss your friends too much and still feel like you're hanging out while watching your favorite films or TV shows. Personally, I believe this feature will still be popular for introverts who like the whole social distancing thing.
