Mortal Kombat Film Wants Black Mirror Star Ludi Lin As Liu Kang

It looks like the new live-action Mortal Kombat movie is already working on getting its Liu Kang. A new report reveals that New Line Cinema wants to cast Black Mirror star Ludi Lin as the Shaolin monk.

The report comes from Variety which confirms that Lin is currently in negotiations to join the cast of Mortal Kombat. If a deal is made, the Power Rangers star is set to play Liu Kang in the New Line Cinema film.

Lin certainly seems like the perfect actor to take on the role. After all, he's previously played a video game character in the Black Mirror episode Striking Vipers. In addition to that, he portrayed Zack Taylor, the Black Ranger in the 2017 movie Power Rangers. Lin also had a small role in Aquaman as Murk.

Liu Kang is one of the original characters in the Mortal Kombat game. He originally joins the tournament in an effort to save Earthrealm. His appearance and moves are based on the late Bruce Lee.

The Shaolin monk was previously played by Robin Shou in the two films released in the 1990s. Liu Kang was also portrayed by Brian Tee in the web series Mortal Kombat: Legacy.

The Mortal Kombat film has previously cast The Raid star Joe Taslim as Sub-Zero. Hopefully, we'll get more casting news soon as the movie nears production.

The upcoming film will be shot in South Australia later this year.
