Millions Of Game Of Thrones Fans Expected To Call In Sick After Season 8 Finale

People are already dreading the end of Game of Thrones but it looks like there's another way that the series finale will affect the world. A new report claims that millions of workers will be taking the day off after the premiere of the final episode.

The report comes People citing a new poll by the Workforce Institute at Kronos. Interestingly, the poll predicts that an estimated 10.7 million American will "call in sick" on the Monday after Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 6 airs on HBO. The study claims that employees will skip work by calling in sick. Alternatively, some might use a last-minute vacation day to get over the shock of the series finale.

Of course, there's still a few that might decide to come in for work on Monday. However, there is a huge possibility that they could arrive late or work remotely. Either way, the show is still expected to affect productivity on Monday.

But what exactly do people have to look forward to that could affect the way they work after the weekend? The teaser for the season finale already offered hints at a devastating conclusion. In the preview, Tyrion Lannister is shown looking around the remains of King's Landing while Arya Stark looks up at a mysterious figure from behind the ranks of the Unsullied. The promo concludes with Daenerys Targaryen looking over her men as the Dothraki celebrates.

Curiously, there's no glimpse of Jon Snow in the teaser. Could this mean that something will happen to Jon? We'll have to wait until Sunday night to find out.

The final episode of Game of Thrones premieres on HBO on May 19.
