The final trailer for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker may have been filled with some exciting new footage but there were several characters who have yet to show up. Although fans may need to wait until the film's premiere to get a glimpse at Luke Skywalker, the trailer actually featured Maz Kanata but she was hidden in the crowd.
Most fans were understandably upset when Maz only appeared briefly in Star Wars: The Last Jedi although she was expected to play a larger role in the film. Although people believe that the same thing would happen in The Rise of Skywalker, the trailer may have confirmed that Maz is now a part of the Resistance and was even there to hang out with Lando Calrissian.
The brief scene shows Lando with several members of the Resistance that include Poe Dameron, Chewbacca, Finn, and even Admiral Ackbar's son (via Screenrant). Interestingly, Maz was right there as well because she probably doesn't want to wander too far away from her "boyfriend" Chewy.
At this point, we're still not sure if Maz will have a large role to play in The Rise of Skywalker. In the meantime, Lupito Nyong'o is hyping up the film by giving it a surprising one-word description.
"Well, yeah. This one is going to be… interesting. Take it as you will," Nyong'o said. "I have only that word, honestly. Yeah, I've got nothing else."
It's a completely new way to describe the movie and we're definitely loving it. We can't wait to see Maz in action this December.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will premiere on December 20.
