Matt Smith Joins Jared Leto's Morbius In Mystery Role

Matt Smith is a busy, busy man. The Star Wars: Episode IX is reportedly joining Jared Leto in the highly anticipated Morbius The Living Vampire film in yet another mystery role.

According to Variety, Smith is currently in final negotiations to appear in the Sony's Universe of Marvel Characters (SUMC) movie that will focus on Michael Morbius, a scientist who eventually becomes a vampire. The report did not reveal Smith's role just yet, it was confirmed that the star of The Crown will portray a major character in the film.

So who exactly is Smith playing in Morbius? There are speculations that the former Doctor Who actor will be cast as the major villain opposite Leto's Michael. It was previously reported that the main baddie of the film will be Crown, a supervillain who has gone up against Spider-Man in the comic books. Crown is also afflicted by the same disease as Michael but gives in to the bloodlust, thus being referred to as Hunger. This certainly would be a fitting role for Smith since he played Prince Philip in The Crown, right?

This isn't the first time that Smith has taken on a mysterious role in the past few months. His character in Episode IX is still a great mystery although there have been speculations that he will portray one of the Knights of Ren who works with Kylo Ren.

Smith's role will finally be revealed when Star Wars: Episode IX finally hits theaters on December 20. Morbius has not yet been given a release date but is expected to premiere in early 2020.
