Mark Hamill Posts Touching Message for Terminally Ill Fan Treated to Early Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Screening

In case you missed it, a truly special fan will get to watch Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker ahead of everybody else as part of their dying wish. Not surprisingly, Mark Hamill was quick to post a touching message for the patient.

Hamill tweeted about the news that the fan, who stays at Rowans Hospice in Portsmouth, UK, finally got to watch The Rise of Skywalker this Friday morning. The message also thanked Disney CEO Bob Iger for making the patient's final wish come true. Take a look at his tweet below.

"Many thanks to @RobertIger & everyone at @Disney for making this happen! Hope the Rowan Hospice patient not only enjoyed the film, but gets an extra-special satisfaction in knowing he saw it before I did," Hamill wrote.

It's a typically humorous post from Hamill but also one that would truly make the Rowan Hospice patient happy to have been noticed by the Rise of Skywalker actor.

The fan, who chose to remain anonymous, released an official statement thanking everyone who made his dying wish a reality.

"I just want to say the biggest thank you to everyone that has helped to make this happen," he said. "During what is just a horrible situation to be in, you have helped to make some wonderful memories and bring some joy to my family. I am a huge Star Wars fan and what I am going through is completely dire. Then to top it all, I thought I wasn't going to see the film I have been waiting to see since 1977! I still can't believe it. The only way I can describe this to you is to say that this must be what it feels like to be told you have won a million pounds!"

It sounds like the fan truly enjoyed the film and we can't wait to see it as well this December.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres on December 20.
