Man of Steel 2 Possibly on Hold Due to J.J. Abrams' Warner Bros Deal

Fans are understandably excited about the idea that Henry Cavill is still signed on to play Superman in the DC Extended Universe. However, it might be too soon to expect Man of Steel 2. A new report reveals that the sequel could be put on hold due to J.J. Abrams' new deal with Warner Bros.

The report from Heroic Hollywood points out that Abrams and his production company Bad Robot has signed a $500 million deal with WarnerMedia, which means the filmmaker will be working on new content for the company. Interestingly, there are speculations that the Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker director is eager to work on a new Superman film as part of the deal. Sadly, there is also a possibility that Cavill might not be part of Abrams' plans.

"If your plan is to attract an A-list filmmaker like J.J. Abrams to direct such property, like Superman, they're going to demand they cast who they want in the title role," the report reads.

They do have a point considering that Abrams had previously written a Superman script that was never developed. Although it is possible that the filmmaker will consider having Cavill's Superman in his movie, it might not be the Man of Steel 2 that fans are looking forward to.

There were concerns that Cavill will no longer appear in more DCEU films after Ben Affleck's exit as Batman. However, it has since been confirmed that the Witcher star has not yet put down the red cape. For now, it is unclear what the plans are for Man of Steel 2. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
