Luke Cage Showrunner Reacts To Season 3 Cancellation

Fans are still trying to deal with the unexpected cancellation of Luke Cage. Although most were clearly disappointed with Marvel and Netflix's decision, showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker has a hopeful message for everyone.

Coker recently took to Twitter to address the Luke Cage Season 3 cancellation. Take a look at his tweet below.

"A lot of memories. A lot of individual thank you calls to make. Just want to say thank you to Marvel, Netflix, the best Writer's room, cast, crew, the Midnight Hour, all those who graced the stage at Harlem's Paradise and the most incredible fan base in the world. Forward always..." Coker wrote.

Coker was already developing the show's third season when the news broke out. Although a writer's room has been assembled for Season 3, Netflix had previously stated that there are no "firm plans yet." Unfortunately, it looks like they have decided to cancel the series.

The statement from Marvel and Netflix reads as follows:

"Unfortunately, Marvel's Luke Cage will not return for a third season. Everyone at Marvel Television and Netflix is grateful to the dedicated showrunner, writers, cast and crew who brought Harlem's Hero to life for the past two seasons, and to all the fans who have supported the series."

The news comes only a week after it was confirmed that Iron Fist Season 3 has been canceled. Interestingly, Luke Cage guest star Finn Jones posted a tribute to the series that somehow hinted at a Heroes for Hire spin-off.

The latest Marvel series on Netflix is Daredevil Season 3, which is currently available for streaming.
