There's probably nothing that we would want to change about the 1987 classic The Lost Boys but Kiefer Sutherland may have given us an idea. The Designated Survivor star has just shared details about a scene that had to be deleted because of its gruesome nature.
Sutherland recently spoke to Yahoo about the Joel Schumacher movie where he revealed that he actually shot a scene that he truly enjoyed but needed to be deleted from the theatrical release because ... well, just read on.
"There was a scene that actually didn't make the movie that I was really, really excited about, mainly because it was just so violent I couldn't believe that we were doing it," Sutherland said. "It's sort of in the movie — they cut around it — but there was a guy on a beach and he was bald and they had made a prosthetic cast of his head. And the part of the scene that I loved the most was literally, it was like a cake: I ate the whole back of his head off and blood just went everywhere."
The thought of Sutherland's David Powers digging into a man's bloody brains is already shocking so the image couldn't get any worse, right? Actually, it can.
"I had been directed to just smile like a child having cake, and the two images were so frightening and scary," Sutherland continued.
I don't know about you but I'm hoping the footage exists and ends up on the internet because it sounds terrifying and awesome at the same time. In the meantime, it should be a fitting mental image for Halloween.
Sutherland played the vampire David in The Lost Boys. It is still unclear if the character will appear in the series adaptation of the film that will air on The CW.
