Kevin Smith 'Wept' During Star Wars: Episode IX Set Visit After Seeing Actor's Stunning Performance

It looks like Star Wars: Episode IX is so good that it brought tears to one man's eyes. Kevin Smith has just admitted that he "wept" after seeing a particular character "give a career-best performance."

Smith was recently a guest on Good Morning America and the Mallrats director immediately gushed about his previous visit on the Episode IX set. Smith raved about J.J. Abrams' work on the Star Wars sequel.

"Number one, J.J.'s doing the Lord's work, man. This movie looks fantastic. It's a year away, but man it looks fantastic," Smith stated. He also teased on a returning actor's stunning performance during his visit.

"I wept on set because I saw somebody give a career-best performance. Somebody I've seen in these movies before. I rolled a tear, it was so darn powerful," Smith revealed.

So who exactly was Smith talking about? It could be anyone who appeared in Star Wars: The Force Awakens or Star Wars: The Last Jedi. However, some believe that the director was referring to Mark Hamill, who is expected to turn in his final performance as Luke Skywalker. Needless to say, we're all excited and looking forward to seeing Episode IX.

Luke's return is certainly going to be a complicated one considering that the character was killed off in The Last Jedi. Nevertheless, there is little doubt that Hamill will blow everyone away next year.

Star Wars: Episode IX has not yet been given an official title. The highly anticipated sequel is still scheduled for release on December 20, 2019.
