Keanu Reeves Compares Working on The Matrix 4 to Cyberpunk 2077

There is little doubt that Keanu Reeves is best known to cyberpunk fans as Neo in the Matrix films. However, the Bill and Ted Face the Music star has another cool character in the genre. But just how different was it to portray Johnny Silverhand in Cyberpunk 2077? Interestingly, Reeves revealed that playing these characters weren't very different.

Reeves recently took part in a behind-the-scenes look at Cyberpunk 2077 where the focus was on his character. While talking about playing Johnny, Reeves revealed that his role in The Matrix 4 also required motion capture.

"I've done a fair bit of motion capture. I did it in the Matrix films. So, to start doing motion capture for Johnny, it was all very familiar to me," Reeves said. He then continued by pointing out what made the two projects different.

"The only difference I think, technologically, was how close they were going to real-time review. But creatively it was very familiar, in the sense of starting a library of gesture and the toolbox let's say for the animators to work with for the character," Reeves concluded.

This isn't exactly a huge surprise but we're still loving the idea that there's a cool connection between Neo and Johnny. Needless to say, we can't wait to see more of these characters soon.

Cyberpunk 2077 will be released on December 10. The Matrix 4 is currently in production and is scheduled to premiere on December 22, 2021.
