Joker Beats Venom as Most Profitable Comic Book Movie of All Time

It seems like Joker just can't stop winning. The Joaquin Phoenix movie is already closing in on the $1 billion mark in the global box office. Now it has just been declared the most profitable comic book movie of all time, beating Tom Hardy's Venom.

A new report from Forbes suggests that Joker is set to earn $957 million at the end of its theatrical run. This means that the Warner Bros. movie would have made about 15 times more than its $62.5 million budget. This is even greater than Venom, which earned $854 million on a $90 million budget. Joker is even more profitable than Deadpool, which raked in $783 million on a budget of $58 million.

Interestingly, Venom wasn't even the most profitable comic book movie before Joker. That honor belongs to Jim Carrey's The Mask, which took in $351 million against its $23 million budget. For now, it's safe to say that the title has gone to the clowns.

But wait, shouldn't Avengers: Endgame be the most profitable comic book movie of all time? It's important to remember that the Marvel Cinematic Universe flick is one of the most expensive films ever made with an estimated $336 million budget. Although it did bring in $2.8 billion, Endgame wasn't exactly as profitable as Joker. It is, however, the top-grossing movie of all time.

For now, the final numbers for Joker have not yet been tallied. Nevertheless, we won't be surprised if it earns $1 billion in the next week.

Joker is still screening in theaters worldwide.
