There is no shortage of petitions begging to bring Captain Jack Harkness back to Doctor Who. But what about a Torchwood movie featuring David Tennant and Billie Piper? John Barrowman says it has been discussed and there's a great chance it could happen.

Barrowman recently spoke to Radio Times where he admitted that he had spoken to former Doctor Who showrunner Russell T Davies about working on a spin-off film. Interestingly, it sounds like it was Davies' idea in the first place.

"I can't remember what ceremony it was but I was speaking to [Davies] – he'd picked up an award for A Very English Scandal – and we said: ‘Wouldn't it be great if we could do a Torchwood or Doctor Who movie with Jack, David, and Billie?"

The former Arrow star also pointed out that it's something that fans would love considering that all three stars came from a special time for Doctor Who.

"If I can boast, the three of us, we all call each other ‘The Golden Age'," Barrowman said with a laugh. "The three of us made such an impact that people still talk about us to this day, which is great!"

We're certainly loving that idea but what about a Torchwood revival? Barrowman pointed out that he has repeatedly pushed for it although it has yet to be approved.

"I'm a big advocate for [a Torchwood revival], but I always seem to hit brick walls," he admitted. "I've been shut down many times in the past. There comes a point where one just sits back and waits to see what happens. We'll have to wait and see!"

Although it's still unclear if a Doctor Who/Torchwood movie will ever be made, fans can look forward to Doctor Who Series 12, which is expected to premiere on BBC early next year.
