Jason Momoa Confirms Dune Casting, Posts Shoutout To Josh Brolin And Javier Bardem

It looks like Jason Momoa has officially traded in the watery kingdom of Atlantis for the desert planet of Arrakis. The Aquaman star has confirmed that he is joining the star-studded cast of Denis Villeneuve's Dune reboot.

Momoa took to his official Instagram account to share the news. The Justice League actor posted several screenshots of news articles announcing the casting and added his own quirky caption. Take a look at the post below.

"I want to say how unbelievably thankful I am to be getting to work on DUNE with the legend director Denis Villeneuve it blows me away that I get to bring Duncan Idaho to life. I am so excited to be working with this all-star cast so much talent. Fucking @joshbrolin and Javier [Bardem]. WTF I'm so stoked," Momoa wrote.

Josh Brolin has been previously confirmed to join the Dune cast as Gurney Halleck, a warrior fo the House Atreides. Bardem was in final negotiations to play the Fremen leader Stilgar so Momoa's shoutout might confirm that the No Country for Old Men star has accepted the role.

The film will also star Timothee Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Stellan Skarsgard, Charlotte Rampling, and Dave Bautista. Spider-Man: Far From Home actress Zendaya is in talks to play Chalamet's love interest Chani while Star Wars: Episode IX's Oscar Isaac could play Paul Atreides' father Duke Leto Atreides. Needless to say, this is one amazing cast so far.

Dune is expected to begin filming in spring in Budapest and Jordan. The film is scheduled for release on August 20, 2020.
