James Wan Admits He Really Wanted To Do Aquaman Spin-off Film The Trench

In case you missed it, Warner Bros. is reportedly pursuing an Aquaman spin-off film that will focus on the terrifying creatures that almost killed Arthur Curry and Mera in the Jason Momoa flick. Interestingly, director James Wan has just admitted that he has "secretly hoped" that TheTrench movie will become a reality.

Film critic Scott Mendelson pointed out that a horror film based on the Aquaman creatures shouldn't be a surprise for fans of Wan. "The alleged The Trench #AQUAMAN spin-off is essentially applying the CONJURING Universe model to DC Films brand. 'So, you liked this killer doll in that one scene or that scary nun in that other scene? Enjoy a whole movie about that killer doll and another with that evil nun!'" he wrote.

Wan responded to the tweet and confessed that he really wanted to do a film featuring the mysterious beings. Take a look at his post below.

"During the early stages of preproduction, I fell in love with the Trench and its designs... and secretly hoped to explore this world further/more. (Now, I'm not confirming or denying this project ;)," Wan wrote.

The Trench have always been depicted as terrifying creatures in the DC comic books and their sudden attack on Arthur and Mera in Aquaman was certainly a mystery. Considering Wan's knack for coming up with truly scary films, we wouldn't be surprised if the spin-off movie turns out to be an awesome one.

Feel the need to see The Trench all over again? The Aquaman DVD and Blu-Ray will be available starting March 26.
