Hugh Jackman Says Logan Co-Star Dafne Keen Punched Him to Get X-23 Role

It's no secret that finding the perfect Laura for Logan was a difficult task. After all, the character was basically a smaller version of Wolverine and it was important to cast the best young actress for the role. Interestingly, Hugh Jackman revealed that Dafne Keen went all out when she auditioned for the part, even to the point that she punched the Greatest Showman actor.

Jackman shared the cool audition story on his official Twitter account during an online viewing party for Logan that was also attended by director James Mangold. Take a look at his tweet below.

"When @mang0ld came up w the character of Laura, and that the movie was in essence about family we were worried about finding the right fit. Until we met @DafneKeen. The first day we auditioned her ... she punched me in the arm so hard, I was literally bruised the next day. Hired," Jackman wrote.

It's safe to say that Keen left a lasting impression on her co-star. Mangold also confirmed that Logan may not have worked as well as it did without the His Dark Materials star.

"There's no way this film works w/o the remarkable Daphne Keen. By the film's 2nd half, the tables have turned & she is carrying the entire movie as Logan has retreated in sickness & self-doubt. & of course, she holds the final frame," Mangold wrote.

We're certainly glad that Keen got the role and we're hoping to see more of her as X-23 in the future.
