His Dark Materials Star Dafne Keen Teases Show Premiere On BBC


It's been a long wait but it's almost time for the premiere of the His Dark Materials TV series. Not surprisingly, Dafne Keen is excited about the whole thing and she has just teased on what fans can expect in the first episode.

Keen shared a video on her official Instagram account showing Lyra Belacqua in action. Check it out below.

"Running home to catch the HIS DARK MATERIALS ep.1 tonight be like:," Keen wrote.

Wait, but His Dark Materials isn't due to premiere on HBO until Monday, right? It looks like fans based in the United Kingdom will actually get to see the first episode ahead of the rest of the world. The premiere episode Lyra's Jordan will air on BBC One on November 3. Well, I guess it's one of those days when you wish you were based in the UK, then.

His Dark Materials is based on the novel series by Philip Pullman and Keen will play Lyra Belacqua, a young girl who discovers a dark secret and must go on a journey to find her missing friend. Along the way, she realizes that something terrible is happening to children everywhere and that she might be the only one who can save them.

The series also stars James McAvoy as Lord Asriel, Ruth Wilson as Marisa Coulter, Lin-Manuel Miranda as Lee Scoresby, James Cosmo as Farder Coram, Clarke Peters as The Master, and Ruta Gedmintas as Serafina Pekkala.

His Dark Materials premieres on BBC One on November 3 and on HBO on November 4.
